摘要: This thesis is about three major aspects of the identification top quarks. First comes understanding their production mechanism, decay channels and how to translate theoretical formulae into programs that can simulate such physical processes using Monte Carlo techniques. In particular, author has been involved in introduction POWHEG generator framework ATLAS experiment. now fully used as benchmark program for simulation ttbar pairs decay, along with MC@NLO AcerMC: this will be shown chapter one. The second illustrates detectors its sub-units, calorimeters muon chambers. It very important evaluate efficiency order understand what happens during passage radiation through detector use knowledge calculation final quantities cross section. last part concerns evaluation quantity deploying so-called "golden channel" decays, yielding one energetic charged lepton, four particle jets a relevant missing transverse energy due neutrino. most systematic errors arising from various are studied detail. Jet scale, trigger efficiency, models, reconstruction algorithms luminosity measurement examples contribute uncertainty cross-section.
