摘要: This report summarizes the results of several interlaboratory “round robin” test programs for measuring Mode I interlaminar fracture toughness advanced fiber-reinforced composite materials. Double cantilever beam (DCB) tests were conducted by participants in ASTM Committee D-30 on High Modulus Fibers and Their Composites representatives European Group Fracture (EGF) Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS). DCB performed three AS4 carbon materials: AS4/3501-6 with a brittle epoxy matrix, AS4/BP907 tough AS4/PEEK thermoplastic matrix. Difficulties encountered manufacturing panels, as well conducting tests, are discussed. Critical issues that developed during course testing highlighted. Results round robin used to determine precision standard summarized.
