摘要: Abstract Southern Brazil coastal dunefields are undergoing a stabilization process that appears to be influenced by climate change. Although this is relatively well known in the literature, precise climatic mechanisms involved were not fully understood until now. Here, we propose new method for integrating meteorological data with dunefield morphology analyses remote sensing better understand impacts of recent change on dynamics. Based approach, three successive morphological phases identified Santa Catarina central coast since 1938: (i) increased sand saturation; (ii) reduced saturation consequent accelerated dune migration; and (iii) decelerated migration trends vegetation cover. For southern Brazil, can explained mechanistically an increase precipitation decrease wind power, both which correlated intensification South American Monsoon System.
