摘要: Data on shoot turnover, size distributions and individual growth in stands of clonal plants are reviewed compared with density regulation non-clonal plants. Shoots the smallest units capable independent existence as well unitary this comparison allows an investigation impact integration other factors dynamics. Physiological integration, capacity to exchange resources substances between interconnected shoots, has long been held responsible for ability prevent overproduction general lack density-dependent mortality self-thinning. A review published data leads conclusion that effects dynamics have overestimated. Other characteristics such control meristem activity, synchronization spring maximum size, seem more important deviating behaviour populations
