摘要: Pituitary adenomas comprise approx 10% of all intracranial tumors. Taking their origin in the anterior lobe, most grow a slow, expansible manner and are composed cytologically benign cells resembling those normal adenohypophysis. Fully 75% endocrinologicaly functional, secreting growth hormone (GH), prolactin (PRL), adrenocorticotropic (ACTH), or thyroid-stimulating (TSH), either alone various combination. The remainder functionally “silent,” producing luteinizing (LH)/follicle-stimulating (FSH) and/or α-subunit, no immunostainable hormones at all. Conventional adenoma variants pathobiologic characteristics fully discussed Chapter 7.
