The role chronic excessive inflammation risk factors, such as smoking high cholesterol, are now well-established factors contributing CHD pathology. A knowlege gap exists that little is known about mechanisms by which strong emotions, like anger, may be associated with these pro-inflammatory processes contribute morbidity mortality. purpose this study was determine if there were differences serum levels proinflammatory biomarker, C-reactive protein (CRP) who scored on anger characteristics compared those low characteristics. Method(s): quantitative, cross-sectional between-groups design used examine CRP between trait groups obtained from a convenience sample 79 healthy, 45-65 year-old community-dwelling southwest Florida. Forty-two met inclusion/exclusion criteria qualified for (n=17) or (n=25) using Spielberger's Inventory-2. Independent t-tests bivariate correlations analyze scores ELISA measurements across scales. Results: Mean not found different expression groups. However, significantly moderate negatively (r = -.34, p .029) related anger-in (anger control through supression). Use small size limits interpretation results. self report measures self-selection bias also have influenced findings. Discussion: Certain styles responses leading CHD. As prevalence increases, modfying active coping activities (relaxation, management) provide positive ways cope angry emotions.
