摘要: Below Tc, cordierite shows an unusual domain pattern consisting of walls which are not well oriented along elastic soft directions. This is due to a low spontaneous strain and anisotropy energies. As result this, short-ranging interactions normally negligible compared energies become important there competition between two types wall: those local interactions. leads the formations `sandwich walls', represent compromise these wall types, becoming energetically favourable. Here we simulate formation sandwich using atomistic computer model. The shown be chiral in nature with vector order parameter rotating as move through wall. chirality direction fixed since degenerate. trajectories similar what would expected from symmetry-adapted Ginzburg-Landau theory. `filling' appears shapes: thick, defined at temperatures thin layer wetting higher temperatures. latter reminiscent surface segregation phenomena.
