摘要: The relationships between preoperatively acquired MRI-based hippocampal volumes (HV), seizure disorder onset and duration, early childhood febrile convulsions were investigated retrospectively with data from 72 left 56 right temporal lobectomy patients. Patients lesional pathology heterotopic abnormalities excluded. Age at development of spontaneous seizures unprovoked by an acute illness defined age onset. was subtracted neurosurgery to determine duration. MRI variables included in this study the HV divided total intracranial volume (RAHV, LAHV), — difference (DHF). Partial correlations used better isolate recurrent corrected for surgery, not significant either group. LAHV (r = 0.42, P <0.0003) DHF −0.49, <0.0001) correlated Correlations group significant. presence a convulsion associated smaller (F(1,70) 10.54, <0.002) larger 11.36, slightly (F(1,56) 5.90, <0.02), RAHV (F(l,56) 4.49, < 0.04). These suggest that atrophy remains stable over duration lobe disorders, is across groups magnitude effect regard convulsion, lack correlation may be due interaction developmental differences brain morphology timing insult produces pathology.
