摘要: The geotechnical properties of selected beach sands in Lagos, Dahomey basin have been investigated. Representative samples were subjected to standard engineering tests [1]; and used the Terzaghi’s shallow foundation formula for strip square footing. Beecroft sand has highest angle internal friction 33 with cohesion (c) 10kPa.It compressive strength 3.67KN/mm2. Shear (0.18 3.67KN/mm2); specific gravity (2.57) bulk density (1.95g/cm3)) dry (1.70g/cm3); moisture content (14.6%). Gradation (0.063mm-16.00mm) some with, 10% sil; 30% gravel 60% Cc Cu 0.30 16.00 respectively. bearing capacity each sample was deduced at depths embedment (0-2m) width footing (0.0475-3m). ultimate is followed by Suntan beach, Bar-beach Banana-Island decreasing order.
