摘要: Wheat is one of the most important cereal crops. It covers largest area under any single crop in world. feeds about 40 % world’s population and provides 20 caloric protein requirements human nutrition. also occupies a central position maintaining food security. Following incorporation semi-dwarfing genes, wheat production doubled 1960s, an era called Green Revolution. The Revolution resulted development semi dwarf cultivars that were highly responsive to inorganic fertilizer application, early maturing resistant lodging. Semi remained various diseases for many decades. genetic gains are less than 1 per annum which not sufficient meet future demand ever increasing population. This chapter addresses importance, history, utilization from different perspectives.
