The water reclamation and reuse project of El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain.

摘要: Water reclamation and reuse have become essential components of water resources management in the Metropolitan Area Barcelona, by helping to develop additional lower Llobregat River, one its main sources supply. By generating a reliable flow 300,000 m 3 /day high quality reclaimed water, options available for integrated widely expanded allow in-stream river substitution, restoration natural wetland areas, agricultural irrigation, supply seawater intrusion barrier. Those been possible thanks implementation an extensive distribution system that allows point 15 km upstream facility, barrier within few kilometres plant. The cost producing using physico-chemical process (0.05 €/m ) investment required such facility (0.21 €/m annual capacity) are very close those similar large scale projects Spain. However, higher degrees treatment, as demineralization irrigation injection into barrier, result considerable increases both costs.
