Occurrence of integrons and resistance genes among sulphonamide-resistant Shigella spp. from Brazil

摘要: Objectives: To determine the occurrence of class 1 and 2 integrons antimicrobial resistance genes among sulphonamide-resistant Shigella strains isolated in Brazil during 1999-2003. Methods: Sixty-two (Shigella flexneri, n = 47 sonnei, 15) were tested against 21 agents. The presence classes was investigated by PCR using specific primers. Results: A total eight profiles identified, with profile to sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim, spectinomycin, streptomycin tetracycline being most common S. additionally ampicillin chloramphenicol flexneri. Class found only two strains, whereas 56 (90.3%) strains. All 2-positive had a similar fragment 2214 bp harbouring gene cassette array conferring streptothricin spectinomycin/streptomycin. coding for (catA1), [tet(A) tet(B)] (bla OXA bla TEm ), detected resistant Conclusions: detection additional allowed us identify frequent patterns spp. Brazil.
