摘要: The popliteal sciatic nerve block is a form of regional anesthesia most commonly used as postoperative analgesia. It has shown to be effective for 15-20 hours postoperatively. can also various foot and ankle pathologies including fracture dislocation reduction, exploration foreign bodies, bedside incision drainage. an additional benefit in that it decreases amount opioid consumption limiting the complications these medications. There are several techniques administering this posterior approach prone patients, or lateral supine patient which requires less time. physician preference whether use single double injection technique employed; however, ultrasound guidance neurostimulation typically utilized during procedure. When using neurostimulation, plantarflexion response more predictive complete sensory blockade than dorsiflexion response. Using with greater efficacy at 60 minutes neurostimualtion alone. While article’s primary purpose review current literature regarding block, employed our institution described. Our utilizes operating room following induction general anesthesia. Both used. An assistant holds leg hip slightly flexed knee extended allow taut neurovascular bundle. approximately 5-7 cm cranial femoral condyle groove between anterior border biceps femoris tendon vastus lateralis muscle. device set 1.0 mA advanced until noted. A total 20-30 cc 0.5% bupivacaine epinephrine 1:200,000 injected. saphenous anesthetized sartorius medialis muscles just artery. combination efficacious satisfaction pain relief 24 hours.
