摘要: Magnetically-coupled pump is under evaluation at Kennedy Space Center for possible cryogenic applications. A major concern the impact of low temperature fluid flows on performance. As a first step toward addressing this and related issues, computational dynamics heat transfer tool has been adopted in geometry. The includes (i) commercial grid generator to handle multiple blocks complicated geometric definitions, (ii) an in-house software developed Principal Investigator's group University Florida. Both pure-conduction combined convection-conduction computations have conducted. analysis gives insufficient information about overall thermal distribution. Combined indicates significant influence coolant over entire flow path. Since 2-D simulation limited help, future work full 3-D modeling using multi-materials needed. comprehensive accurate model can be take into account effect multi-phase cooling loop, magnetic interactions.
