Evaluation of Faculty Mentoring Practices in Seven U.S. Dental Schools.

摘要: The aim of this cross-sectional study was to examine the faculty mentoring practices in seven dental schools U.S. A 34-item survey administered electronically members all ranks, tracks, and job categories using listservs. Survey questions addressed current which were involved; their perceptions those practices; perceived characteristics an ideal program, mentor, mentee; best respondents’ demographics. conducted from October 2017 February 2018. total 154 surveys completed (response rate 22%). Over 58% (90/154) respondents reported receiving no mentoring; 31.9% (49/154) said they received informal 9.7% (15/154) formal mentoring. Of 64 who mentoring, both informal, 92.2% (59/64) full-time faculty, 7.8% (5/64) part-time (p=0.001). Approximately 39% indicated that program not overseen by anyone participation voluntary. top three benefits increased overall professional development, development a career plan, networks. most important for based on needs mentee, mentor has desire help mentee is eager learn. results showed very low level or programs surveyed. Future studies are needed determine strategies expand enhance members.
