摘要: In this study we have examined the identification of polynyas in Kara Sea region with AMSR-E radiometer data. We utilized a threshold value spectral gradient vertically polarized brightness temperatures between frequencies 89 GHz and 36 GHz. As comparison, ice thickness defined from surface temperature measured MODIS, is used. clear sky conditions correspondence good, 72 % all thin pixels mean up to 15 cm were correctly identified, 3.4 mischaracterized as ice, when these, according MODIS charts, thicker than 40 cm. The precise definition thickness, our study, was not possible, unlike reported some previous studies.
