摘要: We have used long-baseline near-IR interferometry to resolve the peculiar eruptive variable star V838 Mon and provide first direct measurement of its angular size. Assuming a uniform disk model for emission, we derive an apparent diameter at time observations (2004 November-December) 1.83 ± 0.06 mas. For nominal distance 8 2 kpc, this implies linear radius 1570 400 R☉. However, data are somewhat better fitted by elliptical or binary component models, suggest that emission may be strongly affected ejecta from outburst.
