摘要: Although self-determination is associated with adolescent development, the antecedents and precursors of its development lie within foundational skills during early childhood years. Adolescents become self-determined as they learn, refine, practice knowledge, skills, beliefs actions that enable them to respond contextual environmental challenges (opportunities, threats) energize basic psychological needs resultant autonomous motivation, stimulating a causal action sequence in which volitional agentic are mediated by action-control beliefs, resulting experiences agency. This chapter explores children make choices express preferences, solve problems, engage making decisions, set attain goals, self-manage self-regulate action, self-advocate, acquire self-awareness self-knowledge.
