摘要: AIM to determine the effect of L-ornithine-L-aspartate (LOLA) together with nutritional improvement and branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) substitution, on encephalopathy in liver cirrhosis malnutrition. METHODS patients visited Cipto mangunkusumo Hospital June-October 2009 were evaluated by critical flicker frequency (CFF) test. Encephalopathy is defined when CFF <39 Hz. Nutritional status measured mid-arm muscle circumference (MAMC) stated as malnutrition MAMC <15%. All subjects who fulfilled inclusion criteria received education for adequate calories protein intake, then they be divided into 2 groups randomization. One group was given LOLA granules 3 x 6 g/d weeks, while another not. Then their prealbumin test again. Statistical analysis conducted this double blind randomized clinical trial independent student t RESULTS there 34 fit criteria, randomization 17 put A (received LOLA) B (without LOLA). obtained statistically significant (p=0,016) increasing mean value (2.41 ± 1.6 Hz) compared (0.67 2.3 Hz). However, not level (1 1.3 mg/dL vs 1.2 1.4 mg/dL, respectively (p=0,59). Furthermore, after weeks treatment no increase ureum creatinine both (4 0.5 9.3 (p=0.4) ureum, -0.1 (0.1) 0.1 (p=0.3) creatinine. CONCLUSION minimal hepatic can a diet 35-40 cal/kgBW 1.5 g protein/kgBW including BCAA substitution improve status, encephalopathy.
