摘要: Summary The last 30 years have seen many changes in the understanding of pathogenesis and treatment equine corneal stromal abscesses (SAs). Stromal were previously considered an eye problem related to bacterial infection, recurrent uveitis, microtrauma foreign bodies horses. They more commonly diagnosed horses living subtropical climatic areas world. Therapeutic recommendations treat SAs historically nearly always a medical approach directed at bacteria often associated severe iridocyclitis. Today most appears be fungal inoculation anterior stroma followed by posterior migration fungi deeper into stroma. There is also now increased incidence diagnosis temperate climates. Medical surgical treatments are towards elimination infections, reduction replacement diseased stroma, suppression If abscess uveitis do not respond satisfactorily therapy, full thickness or split lamellar keratectomy remove hyphae transplantation healthy allografts has high rate success speeding healing preserving sight. This paradigm shift ability diagnose institute therapy for evolved over years, focus this paper.
