摘要: THE fact that a diet of mammalian thyroid will induce frog-tadpoles to metamorphose precociously into the adult form is now well established. It some interest find this produces similar effect in which usually does not metamorphose—the Axolotl. This larva salamander known as Amblystoma, but remarkable being neotenic, i.e. it normally fails metamorphose, and attains full size sexual maturity while keeping its larval characters. Chief among these are external gills fin along back both borders tail, also differs from colour, shape head, development eyes eyelids, rounded and, course, use limbs for progression on land.
