摘要: Bacteriorhodopsin is a membrane-bound light energy transducer which generates an electrochemical proton gradient. It undergoes cyclic photoreaction in five intermediates have been identified. During the cycle it releases from one surface of membrane and takes up on opposite surface. The active chromophore consists retinal bound through Schiff base to protein. deprotonized during appears be involved transport protons membrane. may also undergo isomerization.
