摘要: Several empirical studies have shown that variation in daily energy expenditure (DEE) and resting metabolic rate (RMR) is influenced by environmental individual factors, but whether these shared influences are responsible for, or independent of, relationships between DEE RMR remains unknown. The objectives of this study were to (i) simultaneously evaluate the effects variables on free-ranging eastern chipmunks (Tamias striatus) (ii) quantify correlation before after controlling for common sources variation. We found influence factors most often shared, whereas tends be distinct. Both raw mass-adjusted significantly correlated, vanished accounting effect reproduction both traits. However, within reproductive individuals, remained positively correlated all other significant covariates. ratio was higher during than at times year negatively with ambient temperature. appear inherently reproduction, does not persist other, less energy-demanding periods annual cycle.
