摘要: Single crystals of lead telluride measuring up to 1¼‐cm diameter and 6 cm long have been grown in sealed silica crucibles by the Bridgman‐Stockbarger method lowering a melt slowly through freezing level. The for purpose testing semiconducting allied properties that form. Extreme purity materials cleanliness crucible found essential successful growth. X‐ray tests shown specimens are single crystals. purest crystal so far had conductivity corresponding an electron concentration 5×1014 per cc. Attempts introduce excess one constituents—lead or tellurium into lattice during growth not successful.
