Internet-art and its Medium: Exploring Hypermedia Structure and Multimedia Environment of the World Wide Web through Net-art Projects

摘要: The work examines the problem of interrelation between Internet-based art and its medium – World Wide Web. It elucidates ways how net-artists employ reconsider basic qualities Internet-medium in their virtual projects. All net-art works are subjected to terms Web-environment, which drastically differs from context real exhibition space or traditional artistic media. Net-art, however, does not only accept rules Medium, but also builds a specific strategy reflect upon them it forms own critical standpoint. The research is centered around two crucial conditions imposed by Web-medium on practices net-art: first, - functioning hypermedia environment, second, necessity deal with multimedia content. both essential features Internet: they define information processed, structured and, finally, displayed.
