摘要: While great strides have been made during the last 2 decades with development of specialty maintenance coatings for rehabilitating both concrete structures and lesser prepared steel surfaces, war against corrosion is still bedeviled by catastrophic coating failures. This article describes research to determine penetration, wetting, adhesion abilities different when applied various porous substrates such as cured green concrete, rust, an alkyl silicate inorganic zinc coating. Scanning electron microscopy, optical physical tests were employed characterize action candidate penetrating sealers. Five unpigmented two-component epoxy penetrant sealers compared contrasted three pigmented single-component moisture-cured urethane The remaining high-build epoxies, a methacrylate, one polysiloxane Results indicated that good can be achieved variety coatings. Deep penetration into surface was not required achieve strong adhesion. behavior on mature seemed much more dependent upon moisture content than maturity paste. investigation also showed low viscosity, thin-film 100% solids methacrylate generally superior capabilities other primers. No primer tested able completely impregnate bind loose rust surfaces. significant correlation found among viscosity given material, its abilities, wicking action. Using primer/sealers provided better wetting rust. blocked amine sealer nearly water-thin modified demonstrated best Given only topcoated itself, identified 12 These exhibited damp rusted
