Breast cancer screening in underserved women in the Bronx

摘要: This article reports the results of mammography screening among socioeconomically disadvantaged women in Bronx, NY using a federally funded low-cost or no-cost cancer service. The New York State Department Health provided funds for uninsured through Bronx Breast Partnership. All < = 40 years underwent both mobile van unit and hospital-based mammographic x-ray unit, American College Radiology (ACR) accredited. Return visits were coordinated by follow-up clinic at Montefiore Medical Center patient navigator who acted as an advocate patients with abnormal findings. overall detection rate 12.9 per 1000 screened was significantly higher than 6 5.1 nationally. Availability essential factor effectiveness work-up problem cases. Low-cost breast programs can improve availability, accessibility, acceptability, utilization underserved are least likely to be otherwise.
