摘要: Abstract Artificial defects (slots) were milled through a polyurethane topcoat and chromate-inhibited epoxy polyamide primer to the underlying aluminium alloy 2024-T3. The slots then exposed neutral salt spray (NSS) for up 16 days. Prior after exposure, examined using scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM/EDS) Raman spectroscopy. milling process generated features on surface not seen polished surfaces, including smearing of matrix fragmentation Cu–Fe–Mn–Al intermetallic particles. It was found that smears S-phase particles acted as sites initiation corrosion, which eventually developed more generally across surface.
