摘要: Disruptive vocalization (DV) is both a prevalent and disturbing problem in nursing homes. We developed computer-assisted data collection system for real-time observation recording of DV various environmental contextual factors. Both frequency duration were recorded 11 residents along with their location the home, activity, sound, social environment, whether or not resident was physically restrained. The actual time all events also recorded. Measures cognitive ADL status administered. average occurrence 22 per hour 26 seconds. results show significant upward linear trend across day. This consistent "sundowning" hypothesis. A Cox Proportional Hazards Regression model indicates that another person present setting (p = .004) presence at home hairdresser .07) associated shorter episodes DV. Correlational analyses indicate higher longer are related to greater impairment, impairment. conclude this observational useful promising tool studying disruptive behavior its context.
