Subjects (n = 87) were selected the basis their hemoglobin concentration being < 111 g/L finger-prick blood, and divided into two groups. For 8 wk one group received supplement 30 mg Fe, while other Fe per week. A complete data set obtained from 32 supplemented 33 weekly. Hemoglobin, serum ferritin, protoporphyrin increased significantly both groups (P 0.001). Changes correlated initial difference treatment between not significant after correction for concentration. It is concluded that status, has an similar to supplementation.
