摘要: Long-term memories are believed to be stored in the synapses of cortical neuronal networks. However, recent experiments report continuous creation and removal synapses, which raises question how can survive on such a variable substrate. Here, we study formation retention associative memory computational model based Hebbian cell assemblies presence both synaptic structural plasticity. During rest periods, as may occur during sleep, reactivate spontaneously, reinforcing against ongoing synapse replacement. Brief daily reactivations rest-periods suffice not only maintain assemblies, but even strengthen them, improve pattern completion, consistent with offline gains observed experimentally. While connectivity inside representations is strengthened phases, connections network decay vanish thus reconciling apparently conflicting hypotheses influence sleep connectivity.
