摘要: In the face of rapid tropical agricultural expansion, preservation forest remnants is crucially important. Forest often abut edges new or established plantations, so landscape-level conservation requires an understanding balance between ecosystem services and disservices provided by forest, including potential crop yield reductions caused species such as rodents, important pest group in oil palm plantations. However, very little known about scale any spillover native which inhabit into adjacent areas. We examined distribution behaviour small mammals across edge separating logged plantations Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, using a dual approach. used trapping grid to reveal patterns relative abundance forest-plantation edge, tracked individuals spool-and-line. uncovered evidence that mammal community crosses uses plantation, although two invasive were found whole gradient. Of 10 detected, we only adaptable murid Maxomys whiteheadi where it persisted at low abundances all sampling points, plantation interior control site. This pattern more consistent with persistence M. throughout than spill-over from fragments. On side, observed richness increased distance interior, suggesting negative effect may exist within remnants. 23 successfully mammals, one crossed overall, this was significantly repelled crossing habitat. Our results suggest contributes damage close edges, but negatively impacts populations
