摘要: Artificial light pollution is drastically changing the sensory environments of animals. Even though many animals are now living in these changed environments, effect has on animal behavior poorly understood. We investigated nocturnal vigilance peahens (Pavo cristatus). Captive were exposed to either artificial lighting or natural at night. employed a novel method record their by attaching accelerometers heads and continuously monitoring large head movements. found that significantly increases peahens. Furthermore, birds faced trade-off between sleep night: more vigilant spent less time sleeping. Given choice, preferred roost away from high levels but showed no preference for roosting without with low lighting. Our study demonstrates can have substantial impact potentially result fitness consequences.
