摘要: Background The control of onchocerciasis in the African region is currently based mainly on mass drug administration ivermectin. Whilst this has been found to limit morbidity, it does not stop transmission. In absence a macrofilaricide, there need for an integrated approach disease management, which includes vector control. Vector using chemical insecticides expensive apply, and therefore use other measures such as biological agents needed. Immature stages Simulium squamosum, reared laboratory from egg masses collected field at Boti Falls Huhunya (River Pawnpawn) Ghana, were observed be attacked fed upon by larvae chironomid Cardiocladius oliffi Freeman, 1956 (Diptera: Chironomidae).
