摘要: Plants infected with pathogens often attract the pathogens' vectors, but it is not clear if this advantageous to vectors. We therefore quantified direct and indirect (through host plant) effects of a pathogen on its vector. A positive effect plant-pathogenic Tomato spotted wilt virus thrips vector (Frankliniella occidentalis) was found, main indirect; juvenile survival developmental rate lower pepper plants that were damaged by virus-free than unattacked plants, such negative absent inoculated or mechanically virus. Hence, potential vectors benefit from attacking because virus-infected are higher quality for vector's offspring. propose plant in general have evolved mechanisms overcome defences against their thus promoting spread
