摘要: Abstract We found that dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) dissolves PAAm. Direct N -alkylation of the amide groups polyacrylamide was performed under homogeneous condition in DMSO. By using tert -butoxide, PAAm were turned into cations, followed by a coupling reaction with alkyl bromide to give -alkylated 1 H NMR suggests incorporation proceeded quantitatively. Intrinsic viscosity measurements and 13 C spectra DMSO suggest undesirable side reactions such as cross linking or hydrolysis did not take place during reaction.
