Valproic acid versus ethosuximide in the treatment of absence seizures

摘要: Valproic acid (VPA) and ethosuximide (ESM) were compared in a double-blind, response- conditional crossover study of absence seizures 16 naive (previously untreated for seizures) 29 refractory patients (18 male 27 female; 4 to 18 years age). In the VPA was as effective ESM reducing generalized spike-wave discharges on telemetered EEG. Adverse reactions or generally mild responded withdrawal dosage reduction drug.
