摘要: Although several outbreaks of group G beta-hemolytic streptococcal (GGBHS) pharyngitis have been described, doubt still remains regarding the etiologic role GGBHS in acute beyond a limited number situations. In winter/spring 1986/87, throat cultures were obtained from 222 consecutive children seen at private pediatric office with and A streptococci (GABHS) recovered 91 (41%) 56 (25%). One patient had both GABHS isolated. This isolation rate was dramatically greater than previous subsequent years, 67% isolates occurred during an 8-week period. Results DNA fingerprinting 57 demonstrated that 43 (75%) appeared to be same strain. The patients comparable those respect clinical findings, antistreptolysin-O titer response, response antibiotic therapy. However, significantly older (P less .05). is first well-documented, community-wide outbreak respiratory population. may more important cause acute, treatable previously recognized.
