摘要: The domestication history of rice remains controversial, with multiple studies reaching different conclusions regarding its origin(s). These have generally assumed that populations living wild rice, O. rufipogon, are descendants the ancestral population gave rise to domesticated but relatively little attention has been paid origins and itself. Here, we investigate genetic ancestry by analyzing a diverse panel genomes consisting 203 435 accessions. We show most modern is heavily admixed through both pollen- seed-mediated gene flow. In fact, much presumed may simply represent stages feralized rice. line this hypothesis, many varieties remnants effects selective sweeps in previously identified genes, as well evidence recent selection flowering genes possibly associated feralization process. Furthermore, there distinct geographical pattern flow from aus, indica, japonica into colocated also admixture aus indica more than japonica, consistent an earlier spread varieties. argue should be considered hybrid swarm, connected continuous extensive
