摘要: Introduction and objectives We present the results from applyingover a period of 3.5 years universal newborn hearing screeningprogramme aimed at early detection loss. Our goal hasbeen to diagnose treat all unilateral or bilateral permanenthearing losses ≥ 40 dB nHL Methods The strategy consists 2 screening phases with transient evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE) 1 diagnostic phase auditory brainstem responses (ABR). ABR tests were performed on newborns “not passing” TEOAE screening, as well those risk factors for loss Results Of 4568 live (NB), we evaluated 97.6%. these, 3.7% presented first was “passed” in both ears by 91.7% newborns; after second TEOAE, only 1.3% cases referred phase. detected 2.7/1000 severe/profound Conclusions This programme designed application appropriate treatment. Although it is possible reach diagnosis loss, intervention stage much more complicated. because depends different disciplines that must act co-ordination, multiple environmental family are difficult control. Therapeutic effectiveness still remains our challenge motive discussion fully justifying congenital programmes
