摘要: X-shooter is a single target spectrograph for the Cassegrain focus of one VLT UTs where it will start to operate in 2008. The instrument covers exposure spectral range from UV K' band. It designed maximize sensitivity this through splitting three arms with optimized optics, coatings, dispersive elements and detectors. operates at intermediate resolutions (R=4000-14000, depending on wavelength slit width) fixed echelle format (with prism cross-dispersers) arms. project has completed the Final Design Review June 2006. In status report, overall concept summarized new results dichroics, active flexure compensation system, operation modes expected performance are given. instrument being built by Consortium Institutes Denmark, France, Italy Netherlands collaboration with ESO. When operation, its wide observing capability be unique very large telescopes.
