摘要: Copolyesters synthesized from two mesogenic monomers have been investigated. The are 4,4′-bis(6-hydroxyhexoxy)biphenyl (BHHBP) and the p-diester made terephthaloyl dichloride p-hydroxybenzoic acid. incorporation of a very rigid, second mesogen increases ability BHHBP to form tilted mesophases. An untilted smectic A phase is formed initially, but final, stable highly ordered, phase. Similar behavior observed when combined with mixture diacids crown ether dibenzo-18-crown-6. copolymer this type also forms For both types copolymers, there good agreement between measured calculated values for layer distances.
