Structure and magnetic properties of a ring of four spins formed by manganese(II) and a pyridine substituted nitronyl nitroxide

摘要: A compound of formula [Mn(hfac) 2 NITpPy] , where hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetonato and NITpPy (2- (4-pyridyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-imidazoline-l-oxyl-3-oxide), was synthesized. The X-ray analysis showed that it crystallizes in the monoclinic P2 1 / n group with a 10.995(2), b =15.378(2), c 17.990(3) A, β 106.58(1)°, Z 2. manganese ions are octahedrally coordinated by four oxygen atoms ligands, an nitronyl nitroxide radical, pyridine nitrogen another related inversion center to first one, thus yielding dinuclear structure. uncoordinated NO groups at short distances from ones translated along axis. magnetic data suggested spins system antiferromagnetic interaction between radical through dominates weak ferromagnetic might be responsible for diamagnetic ground state. however is not unambiguous due presence contacts radicals.
