摘要: Abstract This paper, based on new proposed approaches, is a numerical investigation of the behavior thin-walled cold-formed steel built-up columns under uniform compression. Two types cross sections have been studied, closed and open formed by two channels connected battens plates. First, nonlinear finite element model has developed results obtained show good agreement against experimental results, such as ultimate strength, type deformed shapes at failure lateral displacement. Second, approach DSM where local, distortional or global buckling numerically, using method software, thickness contact area in web taken 1.0 times plate “t”, instead 1.5 2.0 “t”. In this case, compound section acting one rigidly section. Comparisons with data give satisfactory degree accuracy design (DSM-t) are more conservative than those found DSM-1.5 DSM-2. The for either sections, also slightly failing modes local ones, if compared AISI EC3 specifications. Some parameters, spacing channels-web length ratio (B1/D) influence stability strength columns.
