摘要: Many animals build extravagant nests that exceed the size required for successful reproduction. Large may signal parenting ability of nest builders suggesting have a signaling function. In particular, many raptors very large their body size. We studied in goshawk Accipiter gentilis, which is top predator throughout most Nearctic. Both males and females nests, provision offspring with food. Nest volume almost three-fold larger than predicted from highly variable reach more 600 kg bird weighs ca. 1 kg. While 8.5 % fell down, smaller down often nests. There was hump-shaped relationship between female age, decline late life, as expected senescence. Clutch increased volume. during 1977–2014 an accelerating fashion, linked to increasing spring temperature April, when goshawks start These findings are consistent being reliable parental ability, superior senescence, also indicating climate warming.
