摘要: The work explores the feasibility of high resolution (as fine as 0.02 cm-1) Fourier transform spectroscopy applied at 9 K in 500-25000 cm-1 range to detect traces unwanted impurities, mainly rare earths (RE3+) crystals: system chosen is YAl3(BO3)4 (YAB). Weak RE3+ (Nd, Dy, Er, Tm, Yb), but also Cr3+ and OH-, were successfully monitored by comparing spectra YAB samples under examination with those intentionally doped a given ion. analysis performed on variety shows how Cr3+, Nd3+, Yb3+ are most frequent dopants can provide suggestions crystal growers about performances different growth lines. According preliminary evaluation, Er3+ detection limit low 1-2×10-4 mol% 1 cm thick samples. advantages method, which sample non-destructive, discussed comparison currently applied.
