摘要: Summary This study was part of an on-going exercise to identify and implement outcome measures in physiotherapy practice on the rehabilitation wards Department Clinical Geratology at Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford. The aim compare responsiveness change other measurement properties (floor ceiling effects) Rivermead Mobility Index (RMI) Barthel (BI). RMI BI were scored admission ward, discharge, by therapy nursing staff. prior assessed self or proxy report from patients carers. Fifty-eight people recruited into (mean age 83 years, range 63–99 22 men 36 women), had a orthopaedic, neurological, cardiorespiratory, conditions for which indicated. Eight died, their data excluded results. Overall, participants improved functional mobility abilities as BI. Both are responsive changes older having (effect sizes 1 0.87 respectively). more efficient measuring than BI, but only modest amount (parametric relative efficiency 1.42; non-parametric 1.25). Floor effects evident respectively, it is concluded that this could limit usefulness in-patients. findings have implications use research.
