摘要: Reconstructing past detrital flux and provenance in the SouthernOcean provides information about changes source regions associated with climate variations transport pathways. We present a LastGlacial Maximum (LGM) to Holocene comparison of 230Th normalised fluxes combined sediment data (Pb, Nd Sr isotopes) from latitudinal core transect eastern Atlanticsector (ODP Leg 177 cores). compare radiogenic isotopic composition (IC) detritus these cores that proximal potential areas. We observe well-defined gradient both sediment. High north are terrigenous material derived southern Africa, while low south supply South America, West Antarctica Sandwich Islands. The suggest this is controlled by flow Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC) position its frontal zones. LGM characterised 2 6 times higher than modern at most ODP sites. do not show trend greatersupply glaciogenic detritussourced America. GlacialPatagonian outwash sediments (< 5 μm fraction) were analysed compared bulk compositions marine sediments. Pb IC Patagonian very similar glacial Scotia Sea ~ 49° S latitude Atlanticsector. propose increased delivery Patagoniandetritus initially supplied glaciers then transported depth via ACC.
