BREAKFAST CONSUMPTION PATTERNS OF U.S. CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

摘要: The Nationwide Food Consumption Survey was used to evaluate the breakfast consumption patterns of U.S. child and adolescent population. Results indicated that skipping increased with age most prevalent among female adolescents. sample partitioned into four age/sex classes by patterns. popular breakfasts consumed populations were identified. Analyses average dietary component intake levels seven identified problem nutrients, i.e., pyridoxine, vitamin A, iron, calcium, magnesium, copper zinc showed omission had a strong negative impact, particularly adolescents, on quality diets. Individuals who readyto-eat (RTE) cereal at somewhat frequent basis higher daily intakes nutrients as well total sugars intakes. Highest cholesterol evidenced for consumers not eating RTE cereal. No consistent relationship between fat sodium found. It concluded breakfast, containing cereal, made valuable contribution nutritional diets children
