摘要: Genomes evolve through a medley of mutation, drift, and selection, all which act heterogeneously across genes lineages. The pacemaker models genomic evolution describe the resulting patterns evolutionary rate variation: that are governed by same exhibit pattern heterogeneity However, relative importance drift selection in determining structure these pacemakers is unknown. Here, we propose novel phylogenetic approach to explain formation pacemakers. We apply this method dataset from holometabolous insects, an ancient diverse group organisms. show when dominant process, each tends govern large number fast-evolving genes. In contrast, strong negative leads many distinct pacemakers, governs few slow-evolving Our results provide new insights into interplay between driving evolution.
